for Photographers”

How to develop a system to maximize your efficiency
by
Geoff Gourley

5 March 2005 9am - 4pm

The digital workflow has become a necessary element in the transition from film to digital. This workshop is designed to increase the efficiency of the digital photographer by teaching tried and tested techniques to develop a streamlined workflow. Getting the most out of your digital camera means you need to develop a consistent and well-designed system. We will focus on expanding your understanding of the digital process and how to use it to enhance your results.

You will learn

*    The advanced terminology of digital imaging
*    Capturing images in RAW and JPEG formats or from scans
*    The best way to download your media into your computer
*    How to read histograms and use the RAW converter
*    Automation using batch processes
*    Applying advanced photo-enhancement techniques
*    Captioning and cataloging with metadata to keep track of your images
*    Output for web, press and print
*    Creating a usable archive of your images

We will emphasize using the powerful program Adobe Photoshop CS to carry us through the whole process, however, other editing and cataloging software will be discussed too.

This workshop is geared to advanced digital SLR photographers and experienced 35mm SLR photographers who have decided to add a digital SLR to their equipment or are currently scanning their image collection and are prepared to move on to the next level.
